Spatial Inc. offers MetaSTEP Implementation and Consulting Services
BOULDER, Colo.--July 21, 1999--Exchange Component of Powerful Metaphase Enterprise PDM Software
Spatial Inc. (AMEX: STY), the world's leading software developer of 3D modeling technology and interoperability solutions, today announced the availability of implementation and consulting services for MetaSTEP(TM), the STEP data exchange interface from Metaphase Technology, a division of Structural Dynamics Research Corporation . Spatial's services provide Metaphase customers with solutions to optimally integrate MetaSTEP with their individualized Metaphase(R) Enterprise PDM software. Now, Metaphase customers can effectively synchronize MetaSTEP with their specific set of PDM-controlled business processes, and begin exchanging STEP files with a variety of PDM systems.
Spatial partnered with Metaphase customers to develop MetaSTEP as the STEP data exchange component for the Metaphase Enterprise Solutions Series(TM). The MetaSTEP component provides an interface that enables Metaphase users to exchange data with systems supporting the PDM Schema, the international standard for PDM data models derived from STEP AP203, AP214, and AP232. "Industry demand to become more interoperable among a variety of systems has highlighted the benefits to our customers of using the STEP format," remarked Paul Pomeroy, MetaSTEP Product Manager, Metaphase Technology. "As a development partner of Metaphase, Spatial has the capability to tailor individual MetaSTEP implementations. This will allow our users to quickly and easily incorporate MetaSTEP into their system, and expand their data sharing capabilities."
Spatial has developed unique implementation tools for MetaSTEP, including programs for capturing the schema, or data model, of a particular Metaphase installation and converting it into the EXPRESS format, used for optimizing the data mappings. In addition, Spatial provides development tools for reading and writing STEP physical files and source code libraries for modifying the data exchange mappings, as well as customizing the user interface. "With these development tools and consulting services, Spatial offers companies investing in MetaSTEP the critical components for efficient implementation of this product," commented Mark Tocco, director, Consulting and Services, Spatial Inc. "Our technical knowledge and expertise provide customers with the most cost-effective method of incorporating MetaSTEP into their PDM environments."
DaimlerChrysler chose Spatial to adapt their initial release of MetaSTEP for their Metaphase PDM System, and looks forward to substantial business benefits. Dr. Reinhold Klass, who is responsible for EDM system integration at DaimlerChrysler, remarked, "MetaSTEP will allow our company to better manage our global data, significantly expanding the use of PDM in a global enterprise network between different customers and suppliers. We have chosen Spatial to implement MetaSTEP in our internal EDM system, Smaragd, because they have excellent experience and very good insight."
Spatial's MetaSTEP implementation and consulting services allow companies to easily incorporate the STEP exchange component and gain a business advantage by with the ability to interoperate with other PDM systems. For Spatial, the development of a relationship with users of Metaphase is an important step toward their goal of being the leading provider of interoperability solutions.
