GS Industries Names New Vice President - Commercial
CHARLOTTE, N.C.--July 20, 1999--Mark G. Essig, President and Chief Executive Officer of GS Industries, Inc. has announced that Timothy J. Dillon has been named Vice President - Commercial, effective immediately.Dillon comes to GSI from Birmingham Steel Corporation, formerly American Steel and Wire Corporation, where he spent a total of 13 years. His most recent position was Vice President, Sales and Marketing for the company's SBQ Bar, Rod and Wire Division.
In his new position, Dillon will oversee all aspects of GSI's Wire Rod marketing, outside and inside sales functions, with particular emphasis on strengthening existing customer relationships and developing new markets. He will lead a renewed emphasis on outstanding customer service.
"Tim Dillon is a well known, and well respected, leader in the steel industry," Essig said. "He will reinforce our efforts to solidify our position as the domestic leader in the steel wire rod business."
Dillon, who has a degree in business education from Miami University of Ohio, previously spent six years in the sales organization of United States Steel Corporation.
GSI companies produce special steel products, including wire rod used in vehicle tires, cables, consumer goods and other applications, and grinding products used in the world's expanding mining industry.
Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, GSI employs about 3,000 people and operates manufacturing facilities on five continents. Its domestic manufacturing operations are located in Missouri, South Carolina, Florida, Minnesota, Louisiana and Arizona.
