SmarTire Appoints Ross Autotronics for UK Distribution

    RICHMOND, British Columbia--July 19, 1999--SmarTire Europe Limited , a subsidiary of SmarTire Systems Inc., has appointed Ross Autotronics as a distributor for the automotive security aftermarket in the United Kingdom (UK). Over the last ten years, Ross Autotronics has earned a reputation for quality technology and is deemed the UK market leader in professionally installed automotive products. ISO 9002 accreditation reflects the total commitment Ross has to customer service and support.
    Ian Bateman, Managing Director, SmarTire Europe commented, "Ross has a blue chip customer base and a national network of premier, VSIB (Vehicle Security Installation Board) accredited independent installers. This distribution network is an excellent addition to SmarTire's European sales drive. Ross is a market leader in such key areas as automotive vehicle security and in-car entertainment.     Ross is a supplier of Meta System's automotive aftermarket security products, Datatag's vehicle tagging system that enables vehicle tracking, and Gemtec and Leo quality products.     To facilitate easy installation of the SmarTire monitoring system, SmarTire Europe has arranged for installation via Hi-Q Tyre Services, the large retail tire chain wholly owned by Goodyear. This service will enable Ross to offer a one-stop shop facility to its customers. Following a period of technical and product training, Ross will have SmarTire monitoring systems on the shelves and ready to sell by early August 1999.
