Top Ford NASCAR Drivers and First Look at 2000 NASCAR Taurus Highlight Annual Indianapolis Ford Fan Appreciation Day
DEARBORN, Mich., July 20 -- The fourth annual Ford Fan
Appreciation Day in Indianapolis will offer fans two exciting opportunities
this year -- a chance to meet their favorite Ford Winston Cup drivers, and a
chance to witness the worldwide introduction of the 2000 NASCAR Taurus race
car on August 4, 1999, at the RCA Dome.
The Indiana Ford Stores' Fan Appreciation Day precedes the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway's Brickyard 400, and will take place from 4-8 p.m., with the
public unveiling of the special Taurus "2k" race car scheduled for
approximately 6:15 p.m. The event will bring together various Ford Racing
sponsors and drivers in a free evening of racing-related fun for the whole
family.
Ford NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Dale Jarrett, Jeff Burton, Mark Martin,
Kenny Irwin Jr., Rusty Wallace, Bill Elliott, Jeremy Mayfield, and Ricky Rudd
are among those scheduled to appear for both autograph and Q & A sessions.
Also, fans will get the chance to meet several NASCAR Craftsman Truck drivers.
Another unique opportunity for fans is to try their hand at the Coca-Cola
Wall of Speed -- appearing for the first time at a Ford Fan Appreciation Day.
For any NASCAR fan that wonders what it is like to sit behind the steering
wheel of a real race car, this is their opportunity to find out. The Coca-
Cola Wall of Speed is a state-of-the-art NASCAR driving simulator that gives
fans the chance to test their driving skills in an authentic, full-size,
NASCAR Winston Cup Series racing car.
In addition, several Ford teams will have their show cars on display and
team merchandise for sale. The event will feature several local radio
stations, ticket giveaways, interactive racing displays, clowns and children's
attractions, production vehicle and car club displays, and pit crew
demonstrations along with other exciting racing attractions.
Free Fan Day tickets are available at any of the 67 Indiana Ford Stores
from July 21 - August 4, 1999. Fans are welcome to call Ford Racing Program
Headquarters at 313-271-7108 for more detailed event information. Previous
Ford Fan Appreciation Day venues include Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit,
