Tata Timken Limited Name Changed to Timken India LimitedCANTON, Ohio, July 19 -- Following final government approval, Tata Timken Limited has been renamed Timken India Limited. Timken India Limited is now a subsidiary of The Timken Company and remains headquartered in Jamshedpur, India. The Timken Company applied for government approval to change the name after it acquired the 40 percent stake held by its former partner, The Tata Iron and Steel Company (TISCO) in March 1999. With the purchase of TISCO's shares, Timken increased its stake to 80 percent. The Indian public will continue to hold the remaining 20 percent equity. The plant produces AP cartridge bearings for rail applications and tapered roller bearings for trucks, farm tractors, and industrial applications.
