Third-Party Logistics Pro, David W. Jeffrey, Joins TRW as Managing Director of Australian Logistics Execution Solutions Operation
RESTON, Va.--July 19, 1999--TRW's Logistics Execution Solutions (LES) unit, a leading supplier of warehouse management systems (WMS) and complementary logistics execution systems, today announced the appointment of David W. Jeffrey as Managing Director of TRW's Sydney office.Jeffrey will leverage TRW's proven real-time MARC(TM) product line with his technical and third-party logistics experience to enhance the expansion of TRW's Australia and New Zealand operations.
Jeffrey brings to the TRW team over 25 years of information technology experience with a strategic focus in supply chain management and logistics. His proven expertise will strengthen TRW's program to assist clients in optimizing the management and control of materials and resources in distribution and warehousing environments. In addition, Jeffrey's experience in the third-party logistics market will further strengthen TRW's operations and support as the worldwide third-party logistics leader.
"David brings a great deal of logistics experience in the Australian market to TRW," Charles Deise, vice president and general manager of TRW's LES unit, said. "He will be instrumental in strengthening our position in the Australia and New Zealand area and especially in the third-party logistics industry which is a key market in the Asia-Pacific region."
Jeffrey joins TRW after a 10-year career at TNT Logistics, a worldwide third-party logistics provider. Serving in several capacities at TNT, Jeffrey most recently held the positions of Information Management Consultant for TNT Logistics Asia and TNT Logistics Communication Division in Australia where he was responsible for developing information management strategies for a logistics project with Telstra, the largest telecommunications company in Australia. Prior to his consulting positions, Jeffrey served as the General Manager Information Technology for TNT Logistics where he headed the automation of 25 warehouses with inventory management and automated routing and scheduling of vehicle fleets. In addition, he has held IT positions in the United Kingdom, South Africa and Thailand.
"As a consultant with TNT, I went through the process of evaluating all the WMS products in the marketplace and selected MARC for the Telstra operation," Jeffrey said. "The product's superior functionality and true-product architecture made it a perfect fit for Telstra and the Australia/New Zealand marketplace. My goal is to make MARC-CS the WMS of choice for Tier I and Tier II warehouse operations."
