Federal-Mogul Reaches Agreement to Divest Its Italian Auto Parts Distributor
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., July 14 -- Federal-Mogul Corporation
today announced it has entered into an agreement to sell its
Italian auto parts distributor, Bertolotti Pietro & Figli S.r.l., to the Rhiag
Group Ltd.
    The Bertolotti business is headquartered in Milan, Italy, and operates
from 18 branch and warehouse locations with approximately 160 employees.  The
business distributes automotive spare parts to the independent aftermarket in
Italy and had sales of approximately $50 million in 1998.
    "We are pleased with the transaction as the business is an excellent
strategic fit with the Rhiag Group," said Dick Snell, chairman and chief
executive officer, Federal-Mogul Corporation.  "We appreciate our employees'
contributions to the success of Bertolotti and wish them well as members of
the Rhiag Group."
    Terms of the sale were not disclosed.  Completion of the sale is subject
to regulatory approval.
