Johnson Controls, TeCom Alliance Announced; Extends Energy Data Acquisition Capabilities
MILWAUKEE, July 14 -- Johnson Controls, Inc. is
expanding and extending its energy management submetering and data acquisition
capabilities through an alliance with TeCom Inc. of Tampa, Fla. The joint
effort couples TeCom's highly scalable InterLane(R) Systems energy and
environmental data acquisition hardware and software with Johnson Controls
Enterprise Management and Control Systems (EMCS).
As changes occur in the energy industry, facility managers will be able to
use the improved data acquisition technologies developed by this alliance to
make better energy purchasing and usage decisions, thus reducing operational
costs related to energy management. The typical user for products developed
through this joint effort will be facility managers responsible for
commercial, industrial and institutional facilities such as health care,
education and government buildings.
"Through this alliance, our customers gain a solution for gathering the
energy information they need to more effectively integrate their supply and
demand side energy initiatives," said David Matasek, director of Utility
Services for Johnson Controls. "The combination of TeCom's data gathering
solution with the analysis and consulting we provide through our 24-hour
Facility Response Center in Milwaukee enables our customers to make the
transition from rate payers to informed energy managers."
TeCom's InterLane Systems PM4000 energy metering and monitoring equipment
and associated EV Manager software seamlessly acquires and transfers data to a
Johnson Controls Metasys(R) building automation system EMCS software
application. The integration extends the ability of Johnson Controls to offer
its customers cost-effective energy information services. These services
include usage exception reporting, cost analysis, and remote monitoring and
diagnostics.
According to Bruce Berger, vice president of Business Development at
TeCom, "Our agreement is going to help customers of Johnson Controls benefit
from energy information services easier and faster throughout their entire
enterprise. We're excited about the relationship and the opportunity to
support the Johnson Controls energy information offering with the newest
additions to our product line."
By working together, TeCom and Johnson Controls have developed enhanced
connectivity between the submetering of energy and environmental data and the
higher-level analysis and reporting functions of energy information systems.
The alliance provides customers the ability to better leverage savings gained
through energy management programs, Matasek said.
"We're helping our customers standardize the tasks associated with energy
information services," he said. "We're giving them more control over their
energy supply and consumption decisions; helping them to minimize risks
associated with load management programs; and allowing them to capitalize on
rapidly deregulating energy markets."
Matasek added, "This joint effort creates a very flexible energy data
gathering system that, when combined with reporting and analysis, puts our
customers in control of their total energy position."
