Pennzoil-Quaker State Company Names Marc C. Graham President of Jiffy Lube International
    HOUSTON, July 14 -- Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
announced today that Marc C. Graham has been named president of Jiffy Lube
International. Graham will direct the ongoing development of the nation's
largest fast lube operation. His primary focus will be on re-energizing the
Jiffy Lube growth model, including increasing car counts, utilizing the fast
lube service center retail platform to expand Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
car care product sales and identifying and capitalizing on future trends in
the growing do-it-for-me automotive service market.
Graham has 29 years of automotive and business development experience,
most recently as president and general manager of Paccar Automotive, where he
was the architect of a significant corporate turnaround. Joining Paccar
Automotive in late 1992, Graham reversed four years of financial losses by
developing a strategic plan that included new merchandising and marketing,
enhanced site selection criteria, financial models and store level profit and
loss criteria. Under Graham's direction, Paccar Automotive was restored to
profitability by the second quarter of 1993 and proceeded to have six
consecutive record profit years with double-digit increases every year.
During Graham's tenure, the company's market share increased, customer service
improved and store count grew by approximately 40 percent.
Graham was named Automotive Marketing Retailer of the Year in 1997 for his
contribution to the growth and productivity of the retail automotive
aftermarket.
"Marc knows the automotive aftermarket business inside and out and his
leadership will be key to the continued growth and revitalization of Pennzoil-
Quaker State Company's fast lube operations," said Pennzoil-Quaker State
president and chief operating officer James J. Postl.
Fast lubes were pioneered in 1979 by Jiffy Lube, now a wholly owned
subsidiary of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company. Since its acquisition by
Pennzoil in 1990, Jiffy Lube has expanded significantly, becoming the world's
largest fast lube operator and franchiser. With the merger of Pennzoil and
Quaker State in December 1998, some 600 Q-Lubes were added to the more than
1,500 Jiffy Lube service centers across the country. Conversion of the
majority of these Q-Lube service centers to the Jiffy Lube banner is underway.
Pennzoil-Quaker State Company is a leading worldwide automotive consumer
products company that markets Pennzoil(R) and Quaker State(R) brand motor
oils, the number one and number two selling motor oils in the United States.
Pennzoil-Quaker State Company also markets a complete line of automotive car
