NASCAR WWEST: Woodside and Bill McAnally Racing Hope For Second Win at Monroe
15 July 1999
July 15, 1999 (Roseville, CA) - Sean Woodside won his first NASCAR Winston West race at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington mid-way through his 1997 rookie year in the series. Now, Woodside and Bill McAnally Racing hope to bring home a second victory in this Sunday's Coors Light 200. Woodside commented, "Monroe is where I broke the "first win" ice in Winston West. I had come close a few other times, but didn't quite make it into Victory Circle. It was sure a relief getting that first win." Evergreen's flat .646-mile oval felt familiar to Woodside, who began his NASCAR career on similarly configured tracks in Southern California. His experience driving on the flatter tracks and the team's ability to provide a fast car should add up to a winning combination this weekend. A victory at Evergreen Speedway on Sunday would also give the team a second win for the 1999 season. But, as important as another win is to the team, the championship battle is its primary concern. With half of the 1999 NASCAR Winston West events completed, Bill McAnally Racing is currently in second place in a furious points battle, with just 26 points separating the top four contenders. Representatives from NAPA's Seattle distribution center will rally at Evergreen Speedway to provide welcome support for Woodside and Bill McAnally Racing. Employees, storeowners, guests and customers will be on hand to cheer the team on as they battle for first place. As part of the weekend's festivities, the team will be making stops at four new NAPA stores en route to Evergreen Speedway, all within the state of Washington. Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) owns and operates the No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts/Martin Senour Automotive Finishes/NAPA Filters/California Integrated Waste Management Recycled Oil Program Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR Winston West team with Sean Woodside as driver. They are in second place in the points standings, and are leading in the Gatorade Front Runner Award and Clevite Engine Builder Award races. Current season results include one win, two top five and four top ten finishes. Woodside finished both the 1997 and 1998 seasons in second place in the Winston West points standings.
