Yahoo! Traffic Gets the Green Light; Yahoo! Launches Real-Time Traffic Reporting Service
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--July 13, 1999--Tired of sitting in traffic after a long day at work?Yahoo! Inc. today announced a solution to this problem with the launch of Yahoo!(R) Traffic (http://traffic.yahoo.com), a one-stop destination for Yahoo! users looking for traffic information and related resources. Yahoo! Traffic is updated 24 hours a day and offers extensive real-time reports covering road conditions, accidents, road construction, special events and other incidents which cause traffic delays, helping users plan their drive times and routes accordingly. Integrated into Yahoo! Get Local (http://local.yahoo.com), Yahoo! Traffic is the latest addition to the current suite of local offerings available on Yahoo!.
"With the introduction of Yahoo! Traffic, we continue to evolve and expand the network of properties that deliver local information to our users," said Susan Briggs, senior producer at Yahoo!. "Giving our users the ability to check traffic conditions before actually getting in the car will help them save time, and in turn, make driving a more pleasant and less stressful event. Yahoo! Traffic allows users to make informed decisions everyday about commuting to and from work, traveling to vacation destinations, or everyday driving around town."
Before You Head Home
Yahoo! has teamed up with Metro Networks Inc., the largest provider of traffic reporting services in the United States, to provide traffic coverage for users in the following 14 metropolitan areas: Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/Saint Paul, New York, Saint Louis, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, and Washington, D.C. Yahoo! Get Local is Yahoo!'s comprehensive resource for information on all 50 states, 211 metropolitan areas and more than 30,000 counties and cities in the United States. Yahoo! Lodging (http://lodging.yahoo.com) and Yahoo! Local Events (http://localevents.yahoo.com) are also easily accessible from Yahoo! Get Local, so users can quickly obtain additional information on what to do and where to stay anywhere in the United States. In addition to providing links to local transportation Web sites, Yahoo!
