New Mobil Drive Clean Oil Delivers Extra Engine Protection By Attacking Dirt Buildup
FAIRFAX, Va.--July 12, 1999--Mobil Corporation announced today the introduction of new Mobil(R) Drive Clean Oil(TM), a significant reformulation of the company's premium, conventional motor oil designed to reduce dirt deposits in automotive engines.The new motor oil provides an extra layer of engine protection by using advanced cleaning additives to limit damaging dirt buildup and control harmful metallic particles.
"In keeping with Mobil's technological leadership, our engineers designed an oil that provides excellent engine cleaning benefits as well as outstanding lubrication," notes Robert Lierle, communications manager for Mobil's automotive lubricants division. Mobil engineers added extra detergents to enhance the oil's cleaning characteristics while continuing to meet or exceed the oil performance specifications of automotive engine manufacturers. The improved formula provides all the superior lubrication benefits of Mobil Motor Oil and can help purge engines of dirt, sludge and other microscopic particles.
Mobil Drive Clean Oil is replacing Mobil Motor Oil and will be offered by retailers, installers and service stations. It is available in four multiviscosity grades: SAE 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, and 20W-50. For additional fuel efficiency, Mobil Drive Clean Oil 5W-30 and 10W-30 contain friction-reducing additives and are classified by the American Petroleum Institute as "Energy Conserving" engine lubricants.
Distinctive silver labels on blue bottles will reinforce Mobil Drive Clean Oil's engine cleaning concept by depicting clear oil swishing on the inside of a large red "O", one of the Mobil brand's familiar icons.
How the cleaning additives work
Mobil Drive Clean Oil provides excellent engine protection under a wide variety of operating conditions and is formulated from quality base stocks to protect an engine by lubricating its moving parts. Mobil Drive Clean Oil also uses a unique combination of quality additives, including the most modern detergent-dispersant, antioxidant, antiwear agent and defoamant additives, to handle a variety of contaminants from liquids and acidic combustion byproducts to dirt and dust particles.
The cleaning additives work by suspending foreign particles, keeping them from building up on the metal parts of the engine and delivering them for removal by the filter or holding them until they are flushed out at the next oil change.
