Best-Ever June Sales Reported by Toyota's Kansas City Region
    KANSAS CITY, Mo., July 12 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region
posted its best-ever June for car sales, selling 2,436 vehicles, a 6 percent
increase over June 1998 when sales totaled 2,307.
    "Our North-American built Toyota Sienna contributed to the Region's
best-ever June," said Paul Holdridge, general manager of the Kansas City
Region.  "Sienna posted a 24 percent increase over last June."
    Combined car and truck sales totaled 2,906, a 10 percent increase over
last year's 2,650.
    Toyota's new entry into the full-size truck market, the Tundra, had
impressive sales of 169 units, and had the highest sales debut for any new
Toyota or Lexus vehicle.  Built in Princeton, Indiana, the Tundra's official
on-sale date was June 1.
    "Bouyed by a strong economy and excellent Spring sales efforts from the
dealers, the Kansas City Region is on pace for record setting sales
performance in 1999."
    The Toyota Kansas City Region includes 74 dealers in Iowa, Kansas, South
and North Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska.
