TransTechnology's Brazilian Unit Earns ISO 14001 Environmental Certification
LIBERTY CORNER, N.J.--July 8, 1999--TransTechnology Corporation announced that its TransTechnology Brasil Ltda. subsidiary in Sao Paulo, Brasil, has been awarded ISO 14001 by an independent registration body.ISO 14001 is a series of rigorous environmental audits and certifications that assure a company's policies and procedures meet the highest standards of environmental awareness and compliance. TransTechnology Brasil is the third unit of TransTechnology to achieve ISO 14001 certification and the very first fastener manufacturer in Brasil to do so. TransTechnology Corporation expects to have two additional operations ISO 14001 certified in its fiscal year which ends March 31, 2000, with all of its other operations achieving that certification over the next few years.
Michael J. Berthelot, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of TransTechnology, said "ISO 14001 certification is an achievement that every employee in Brasil should be very proud of. The ISO 14000 environmental standards are a series of voluntary standards and guideline reference documents developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Of the series, ISO 14001 is the foundation document that establishes requirements for the development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive and integrated environmental management systems.
Jeffrey Forgang, Director of Environmental Affairs for TransTechnology Corporation, said "Being the first fastener manufacturer in Brasil to achieve this certification is quite an accomplishment. TransTechnology Brasil has put forth a great amount of effort and commitment in achieving this certification, a cornerstone of our environmental policy."

TransTechnology Brasil, formerly known as Seeger Reno, is the leading Brazilian manufacturer of retaining rings for use in the automotive, truck, farm implement, and other industries. The unit, with 98 employees, also designs and manufactures other stamped and wire formed metal components and provides heat treating and finishing services to other manufacturers.
