Isuzu Sales Show Strong First Half

CERRITOS, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--July 7, 1999--American Isuzu Motors Inc.'s SUV lineup continues its strong sales performance in the first half of 1999.
Rodeo, Amigo and Trooper hit the midyear mark with an impressive record.
Rodeo, Isuzu's most popular vehicle, is up 4 percent for the year. Sales of Amigo are running 158 percent above those of last year, indicating that customer enthusiasm for the new hardtop version of the popular truck remains strong. Trooper, Isuzu's entry in the luxury compact SUV segment, showed a marked increase of 29 percent over 1998 midyear sales.
"Our performance in the first half of the year is right on target for our '99 objectives," said Bob Reilly, Isuzu's senior vice president, chief operating officer, SUV. "Isuzu has great SUVs and backs them with exceptional service. Our dealers know this, and I believe our sales performance demonstrates that more and more SUV buyers are coming to the same conclusion."
Total retail sales rose 12 percent for the year to date, with 5,374 more vehicles sold this year than last.
