ADESA Expanding Canadian Operations; Acquires Vancouver, British Columbia Facility
INDIANAPOLIS, July 6 -- ADESA Canada announced today that it
has purchased the Vancouver Auto Auction of New Westminster, British Columbia,
as a major component of the company's Canadian strategy for growth.
"The Vancouver auction will sell an estimated 45,000 vehicles this year to
automobile dealers through six auction lanes situated on a 70-acre site. The
management team at Vancouver is excellent and we look forward to working with
them as a part of ADESA Canada," said Brian Warner, president and chief
executive officer of the Toronto-based automotive services company.
"To continue our growth, we are planning additional acquisitions of
existing auctions in targeted markets across Canada," Warner said.
"Independent auction owners have a unique opportunity to consider sale of
their facilities during a time of optimum market conditions."
Jim Hallett, president and chief executive of the Indianapolis-based ADESA
Corporation, said that ADESA has a focused growth strategy that will continue
to make it the fastest growing automobile auction company in North America.
"We presently operate in 28 locations across the U.S. and Canada. Our
goal is to continue to grow rapidly through acquisitions and selective
greenfield expansions over the next two to three years as we move westward in
both countries," he said. Hallett, a Canadian citizen, was also the founder
of ADESA's auctions in eastern Canadian provinces.
ADESA Corporation is one of North America's largest providers of wholesale
vehicle remarketing services. In addition to auctions, the company offers a
wide range of other services to licensed automobile dealers across the two
countries. The company is wholly-owned by Duluth-based Minnesota Power, Inc.
