Hyundai June Sales Blast Upward 101%, Setting Another 10-Year Record - Both June and Six-Month Sales Best in Ten Years -

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., July 1 -- Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 15,757 vehicles for the month of June and 70,940
vehicles for the first six months of 1999.
    "It's another record shattering month for Hyundai,"  said Hyundai Motor
America's Vice President of Sales, Robert Cosmai.  "With a 101% jump in sales
over the same month last year, as we did in May, our June sales have broken
all records for the last 10 years."
    "Beyond that, our sales for the first half of the year are also the best
in 10 years.  June sales continue the hot Hyundai sales trend we've seen every
month this year.  Year-to-date our sales are up 56.1% compared to last year.
Our flagship Sonata is also seeing big sales increases, hitting a 64% increase
over the same month last year," said Cosmai.
    "Best of all our retail sales have climbed an astonishing 84% this year.
This means that it is customers who are coming into Hyundai dealerships one at
a time that are driving our sales, not fleet deals.  Our dealers have done a
terrific job this year of proving the quality and value of our cars to
customers across the country," Cosmai reported.
