Supply Chain Leaders to Sponsor Seminar at Auto-Tech '99; EXE, Tompkins and Intermec Coordinate Automotive Supply Chain Best Practices Seminar

DALLAS--July 1, 1999--EXE Technologies, Inc. today announced it will team with two other industry leaders -- Tompkins Associates and Intermec Technologies Corporation -- to sponsor an automotive supply chain seminar at AUTO-TECH '99, Cobo Conference Center, Detroit.
AUTO-TECH, held this year August 31-September 1, is the only trade show and conference that focuses on the automotive industry's extended enterprise supply chain.
As new partners in the automotive enterprise supply chain, EXE Technologies, Inc., Tompkins Associates and Intermec Technologies Corporation will sponsor a seminar at the event September 1 on "Maximizing Value in a Lean Automotive Supply Chain." The symposium will focus on the implementation of best-of-breed supply chain execution (SCE) systems and practices for leading automotive suppliers. Three speakers will focus on different aspects of the collaborative flow of goods in automotive supply chain strategy, with specific emphasis on warehouse management systems (WMS), radio frequency identification (RFID) for continuous updated data in supply chain movement, and transportation and planning systems.
"Efficient supply chain performance is absolutely critical to the success of any automotive business," says Ray Hood, President and CEO of EXE Technologies. "We are pleased to be a part of the premier seminar at AUTO-TECH `99 that will present the latest in SCE technologies."
In addition to automotive SCE best practices, the seminar will include discussions on the competitive advantages of automated flow of goods, collaboration with suppliers, bringing products to end users, crossdocking and work center distribution strategies, adding RFID to an automated SCE system, and selecting and implementing a successful SCE solution. The seminar is designed for top automotive managers, as well as for anyone directly involved in logistics, operations or warehousing in the automotive industries.
Jim Tompkins, president of Tompkins Associates, will address the topic of moving beyond supply chain management in the automotive industry, and embracing the no-boundaries process of supply chain synthesis. Winston Guillory, Vice President, RFID Strategic Business Unit, Amtech Systems Division of Intermec Technologies will address RFID requirements in an automotive distribution operation. Peter Stiles; Senior Vice President of Product Strategy of EXE Technologies will discuss automotive flow of goods strategies.
