Kia Enjoys Best-Ever Sales in June; Company Shatters Record Established Last Month

    IRVINE, Calif, July 1 -- Kia sales continued sunny in June as
it turned in its best U.S. sales month in history with sales of 13,593
vehicles. The sales record betters the 12,795 vehicles sold in May when Kia
unveiled its popular Y2K marketing campaign. Kia sales in June also were
48 percent over last June's sales mark.
    Sales of the Sephia compact sedan were instrumental in setting the record.
Kia sold 9,811 Sephias during the month, besting the previous month's record
sales by 25 percent and last June's sales by 117 percent. Kia's year-to-date
sales through the first half of 1999 were 59 percent higher than in 1998
