Audi Sales up 43.8 Percent in June - Best June Since 1987 And Best Year to Date Since 1986
    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 1 -- Audi of America, Inc.
announced its June sales in the U.S. today with 5,742 automobiles sold, a 43.8
percent increase over the same month last year when sales were 3,993.  These
results mark Audi's best June since 1987 and best year-to-date since 1986.
Year-to-date sales for 1999 are 28,252 versus 20,410 last year, a 38.4 percent
increase over last year's year-to-date pace.
    Customer demand for Audi's new sports car, the TT, continues to run high
with 697 units sold in June.  A total of 1,739 of this authentic German sports
car have been sold since it went on sale just over two months ago.
    During the same period, each of Audi's model lines saw increases over the
year previous.  Leading the way in total sales, with 2,891 sold, was Audi's A4
range at 14 percent over last year.  Noteworthy in this increase is that
demand for A4 Avants increased 9.1 percent over last year.  A6 luxury touring
Sedans and Avants enjoyed a dramatic 57.8 percent sales increase with 1,901
units sold.  Audi's all-aluminum luxury flagship, the A8, saw a 39 percent
increase over 1998 with 246 units sold.
    Audi has displayed this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase for
over four years, or 53 of the last 55 months.
