Saab's June 1999 Sales Up 34 Percent Over Last Year; Sales Momentum Continues for Saab as YTD Sales Are Up Over 45%
    NORCROSS, Ga., July 1 -- Saab Cars USA, Inc., the U.S.
importer and distributor of Saab 9-3 and 9-5 automobiles, announced sales of
3,729 units during June 1999, a 34 percent increase over June 1998 sales
(2,782 units).  During the first six months of 1999, Saab has continued its
strong sales momentum as year-to-date sales are up 45.5 percent over the same
period last year (18,757 vs. 12,889).
    Sales of the Saab 9-3 remain solid, as 2,199 9-3 units were retailed in
June -- including 899 9-3 Convertibles.  This represents a 21% increase
compared to the 743 convertibles retailed in June 1998.  The fun-to-drive Saab
9-3 Convertible is available with a standard 2.0L turbo engine that can be
matched to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed electronically
controlled automatic.  Saab also offers 9-3 SE Convertible buyers a 2.0L high-
output turbo (HOT) that provides 200 horsepower and 209 lb.-ft. of torque with
a manual transmission.
    The Saab 9-5 model line also had another strong sales month. 1,108 9-5
Sedans were sold in June, representing a 57% increase compared to the 704
units retailed in June 1998.  In addition, the new Saab 9-5 Wagon, in its
third month of sales, continues to build momentum and was delivered to 398 new
customers, compared to 298 units retailed in May 1999 and 241 units in April
1999.
