Nissan R&D Names New Vice President
               Ron D'Amico Becomes VP; Bob Sump Named Director

    FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., July 1 -- Shigeo Ishida, president
of Nissan Research and Development, Inc., today announced that Ron D'Amico has
been promoted to vice president for vehicle engineering.  D'Amico had been
director of body and exterior / interior systems design.
    In addition, Ishida announced that Bob Sump, manager of interior systems
design, has been promoted to director, with responsibilities including
passenger car engineering.
    As vice president for vehicle engineering, D'Amico's responsibilities
include Safety, HVAC, Electrical/Electronics, and Powertrain.  He will report
directly to Ishida.
    "We have been looking at all facets of our operations at NRD as we become
more efficient and can better meet our mission of designing the highest
quality vehicles delivering the highest consumer satisfaction possible,"
Ishida said.  "We are pleased to have people like Ron and Bob taking leading
roles in these efforts."
    D'Amico joined Nissan in 1988 as manager, climate control after spending 9
years at Volkswagen of America.  He was named director body and exterior /
interior systems design in 1991.
    Sump joined NRD in 1989 as a senior project engineer.  Prior to that, he
was with Borg Warner and Volkswagen.
    Nissan Research and Development Inc., is the U.S. vehicle development arm
of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. of Japan.  NRD operates a technical center in
Farmington Hills, Mich., and has other operations in Los Angeles and
Cambridge, Mass., in addition to offices at the Arizona Test Center in
Stanfield, Ariz., and at Nissan Motor Manufacturing Corporation USA in Smyrna,
Tenn.
