Avis Rent A Car, Inc. Completes Purchase of Nashville's Motorent, Inc.

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y., June 30 -- Avis Rent A Car, Inc.,
today announced it has completed its previously disclosed purchase
of Motorent, Inc. of Nashville, Tennessee, the largest remaining independent
domestic franchisee.
    Motorent, Inc. generates approximately $38 million in annual revenue at
its operations at the Nashville, Knoxville, Memphis and Chattanooga
international airports.  It operates a fleet of approximately 3,500 vehicles
and employs 250 people.
    Avis Rent A Car, Inc., operates the second largest general-use car rental
business in the world, with locations in the United States, Canada, Australia,
New Zealand and the Latin American Caribbean region.  During 1998, Avis
completed over 15 million rental transactions, with a fleet averaging over
200,000 vehicles, generating $2.3 billion in revenue.
