Pennzoil-Quaker State Company Names Steve Hanson Vice President of Marketing for Quaker State Products

    HOUSTON, June 29 -- Pennzoil-Quaker State Company
announced today that Steve Hanson has joined the company as vice president,
marketing for Quaker State Products.  Hanson will focus on providing marketing
and brand positioning of the Quaker State(R) branded products in Pennzoil-
Quaker State's portfolio.
    Hanson has 15 years of brand management and marketing experience, most
recently as vice president, marketing for the Payless Shoes.  From 1996 to
1998, he was marketing director for The Kellogg Company, where he managed the
company's $660 million adult cereal business and led the development of three
new products from initial concept to product launch.  Hanson began his career
in 1984 with Procter & Gamble Company, where he managed several high profile
laundry and cleaning products in North America, Japan, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
    Hanson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from
the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a nuclear submarine officer at Pearl
Harbor 1979-1984.
