Standard Parts Corporation Expands NAPA Auto Parts Outlets
TACOMA, Wash., June 29 -- Standard Parts Corporation, the
Tacoma based NAPA Auto Parts operator has acquired the Big Wheel Auto
Parts/Pochel Distributing facilities and will be converting the outlets to
NAPA Auto Parts starting in mid July. The transition of the stores and
distribution facilities is scheduled to be completed by mid September.
Standard Parts Corp., plans to operate all the Pierce and Thurston County
stores, with the remaining three King County stores to be under the control of
Genuine Parts Co., the Atlanta based NAPA Auto Parts distributor.
Standard Parts Corp., has been operating Napa Auto Parts stores in Pierce
County since the mid 1970's and has proved to be one of the fastest growing
NAPA organizations on the West coast. The completion of this merger will put
Standard Parts Corp., in the top ten listings of privately owned NAPA
organizations in the country. For more than twenty years Pochel and Standard
have supplied the Pierce County market for commercial distribution of truck
and automotive parts and accessories.
Standard Parts Corporation CEO Richard B. Davis feels the two companies
are an incredibly perfect fit. "The two firm's strengths are extremely
complimentary," adds Davis, "It's really a great match of two major strengths
that will ultimately benefit the consumer."
With this merger Standard Parts Corporation will employee over 130 people
in the Puget Sound Area.
