Arctic Cat Holds Successful Model Year 2000 ATV Dealer Show; Company Introduces New 500 Automatic ATV

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn.--June 28, 1999--Arctic Cat Inc. unveiled their first automatic transmission all-terrain-vehicle (ATV) at the company's international dealer show in Salt Lake City, Utah last week.
The Arctic Cat 500 4X4 Automatic is the ninth new ATV from the Minnesota-based snowmobile, ATV and personal watercraft manufacturer.
Commenting on the show, Chris Twomey, Arctic Cat chief executive officer, said: "Our best-in-class ATVs continue to outpace the industry in sales growth, in part due to Arctic Cat's long history of innovation and superior technology. Dealers from around the world attended our model year 2000 show in Utah, and our new ATVs were extremely well received."
Continuing, Twomey said: "With the new 500 Automatic, we now compete in both the manual and automatic segments of the large engine ATV market, which is the fastest growing segment of this industry. We already have a 23 percent market share of the large engine manual ATV market and our dealers are very excited to now offer our 500 Automatic as well. Meanwhile, we expect our ATV growth to exceed industry averages for the foreseeable future."
The new Arctic Cat 500 4x4 Automatic uses the proven 500cc engine with the new Duramatic(TM) transmission which is self braking using engine compression to help slow the forward momentum of the machine on downhill drives. The Automatic has selectable 4WD or 2WD for easy steering and versatility.
The 500 4x4 Automatic is built on Arctic Cat's rugged frame and features patented semi-independent rear suspension and fully-independent front suspension. More than seven inches of travel front and rear allow its wheels to stay in contact with the ground when traveling over rough terrain, providing consistent traction and control. The Arctic Cat has nine inches of ground clearance and coil spring over shock absorbers on all four suspension corners. Constant velocity joints allow for greater performance with less maintenance.
The new Arctic Cat 500 4x4 Automatic will be available in two colors at Arctic Cat ATV dealerships this fall with a suggested retail price of $6,599.

Arctic Cat Inc., based in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, designs, engineers, manufactures and markets snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) under the Arctic Cat(R) brand name, and personal watercraft (PWC) under the Tigershark(R) brand name, as well as related parts, garments and accessories.
