Dura Automotive Systems, Inc. Acquires Metallifacture Limited

    MINNEAPOLIS, June 28 -- Dura Automotive Systems, Inc.
, today announced it has acquired Metallifacture Limited
("Metallifacture") from Bullough plc.
    Metallifacture, located in Nottingham, England, is a manufacturer of jacks
and tire carriers for the European automotive industry.  It has revenues of
approximately $25 million and its major customers include Ford, General
Motors, Rover, Nissan and Volkswagen.  The aggregate purchase price was
approximately $22 million and was financed with borrowings under the company's
existing credit facility.
    In commenting on the acquisition, Karl F. Storrie, president of Dura
Automotive, said, "This acquisition is an important element in our strategy to
expand our offerings of highly engineered automotive components on a global
basis.  It increases our market presence for jacks in Europe and complements
our North American and Pacific Rim jack business."
    Dura Automotive Systems, Inc., is the world's largest independent designer
and manufacturer of driver control systems and a leading global supplier of
door systems, window systems and engineered mechanical components for the
global automotive industry.  The company is also a leading supplier of similar
products to the North American recreational vehicle, mass transit and heavy
truck market.  The company's products include door modules, parking brake
systems, automotive cables, transmission shifter systems, encapsulated and
sliding windows, window regulators, hinges, latches, seating systems, engine

is in Minneapolis, Minn.
