Toyo Proxes T1-S Brings a Whole New Meaning to Ultra-High Performance
CYPRESS, Calif.--(AutomotiveWire)--June 28, 1999--With the introduction of the new flagship Proxes(TM) T1-S(TM), Toyo adds a new dimension to its Proxes line-up, and completely redefines the state-of-the-art in performance tires. The Proxes T1-S achieves uncompromised performance with Toyo's exclusive DSOC(TM) Technology, which yields a specially-engineered new tread compound of silica (for wet grip), and carbon black (for dry grip). Those features, combined with an all-new unidirectional tread pattern with slanted main grooves for superior water drainage, result in ultra-high wet and dry performance, with a comfortable ride.
A small void ratio and long slanted tread ribs provide excellent dry grip and steering response, while a rigid center rib pattern gives directional stability.
The Proxes T1-S features wide, high-tension steel belts, a spiral-wound edge and cap ply with jointless construction and a single strand jointless bead wire for precise handling, stable performance, and uniformity at high speeds. A high-modulus rayon or polyester (depending on tire size) casing, and a rigid high bead filler deliver excellent traction and steering response.
The Proxes T1-S has a built-in rim protector to guard against wheel and sidewall damage. It is Z-rated for speeds up to 168 mph, and is available in a wide range of 35-, 40-, 45-, 50- and 55-series sizes, including the most popular 17" and 18" sizes for plus sizing applications.
Toyo manufactures and markets a full line of tires for passenger car, light truck, commercial truck, bus, off-road and construction applications, both original equipment and aftermarket. Toyo Tire (USA) Corporation is headquartered in Cypress, CA.
