TTC Supports Chrysler Viper Team ORECA in Win at Le Mans
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., June 25 -- For the second
consecutive year, the Chrysler Viper Team ORECA won the classic Le Mans
24-hour race, with an impressive 7-lap lead in the GTS class. The power of
the massive 8.0-liter V10 engine is transmitted to the rear wheels through a
TREMEC TR-6R transmission from Transmission Technologies Corporation
(TTC). The TREMEC TR-6R is a race-modified version of the TREMEC T56
transmission, which is installed as standard equipment on production Vipers.
Several representatives from TTC were on-hand during the race at Le Mans
to assist Team ORECA, including TTC's Director of Engineering, Luis Fernandez.
"TTC is very pleased to work with DaimlerChrysler Motorsports on the supply of
these transmissions. Le Mans is recognized as the toughest endurance motor
race in the world, where high technology is needed to win. We incorporate the
knowledge acquired here at Le Mans to further enhance current and future
transmission designs," said Luis Fernandez.
"We really appreciate the continued support that TTC has provided the
team, and their presence at Le Mans," said Lou Patane, Vice President of
Motorsports Operations, DaimlerChrysler Motors Corporation.
High-performance enthusiasts have used TREMEC transmissions for over 35
years. They are installed as standard equipment in virtually every sports car
in North America and can be found in a variety of light-duty trucks and sport
utility vehicles around the world.
TTC designs, develops, manufactures, and markets transmissions for a wide
variety of vehicles from high-performance passenger cars and light-duty
trucks, to medium-duty and Class 8 commercial trucks. Transmissions include
Spicer heavy-duty, Spicer medium-duty, and TREMEC light-duty transmissions.
