UnitedAuto Announces Expansion of Manufacturer Relations Team; Bernard W. Wolfe Named Senior Vice President, Manufacturer Relations Toyota/Lexus

    NEW YORK, NY--June 25, 1999--UnitedAuto Group, Inc. , the nation's second largest publicly traded automotive retailer, today named Bernard W. Wolfe, a 22-year veteran of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., as Senior Vice President, Manufacturer Relations Toyota/Lexus, a newly-created position. Roger S. Penske, Chairman, made the announcement today.
    Mr. Wolfe, who joined Toyota Motor Sales in 1977, has had extensive experience as a field operations manager for Toyota in the Chicago, Los Angles and Portland (OR) markets. Most recently, he served as General Manager of Toyota's Portland region. Prior, he served as National General Manager for Toyota's truck/sport utility vehicle team. Mr. Wolfe, whose appointment is effective July 1, will report to Samuel X. DiFeo, President.
    Mr. Penske said, "We are pleased to add Bernie Wolfe's extensive experience with Toyota Motor Sales to our manufacturer relations team. His strengths fit well with our plan to enhance UnitedAuto's relationships with our manufacturer partners."
    UnitedAuto operates 10 Toyota franchises: Atlanta Toyota; Covington Pike Toyota (Memphis, TN); Gateway Toyota (Toms River, NJ); Hudson Toyota (Jersey City, NJ); Kearny Mesa Toyota (San Diego, CA); Kissimmee (FL) Toyota; Palm Beach Toyota; Rockland Toyota (Nyack, NY); Triangle Toyota (Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico) and Westbury (NY) Toyota. The Company also operates three Lexus franchises: DiFeo Lexus (Bound Brook, NJ); Lexus Kearny Mesa (San Diego, CA) and Scottsdale (AZ) Lexus.
