BURR RIDGE, Ill.--(AutomotiveWire)--June 25, 1999--Midtronics, Inc. announced today that the first of the new generation battery tester for Ford Motor Company has been produced in Midtronics' Burr Ridge, Illinois factory. Ford Motor Company has purchased 6,500 Micro490(TM) battery testers to use in all of their North American dealerships. Based on the previous success with the Micro 390 battery tester product in Europe, Ford Motor Company had asked Midtronics to develop a next generation version for use in North America.Steve McShane, Midtronics president and CEO states, "I am extremely pleased that Midtronics' relationship with Ford Motor Company continues to expand with the design of this third generation product. Through the use of the Micro490, I believe Ford will improve their warranty management process, enhance customer service, as well as expand dealer battery sales."
Midtronics' relationship with Ford dates back to 1993 with the creation of the first generation analog battery tester, the Rotunda PowerSensor PLUS(TM). Subsequent to the success of the Rotunda PowerSensor PLUS in North America, Midtronics developed the second generation digital Micro390(TM) battery tester for Ford Europe. The new Micro490 battery tester improves upon the Micro390 by automating various processes. In addition, the new tester provides a warranty approval code that interfaces with Ford's ACES (Automated Claims Entry System) warranty system. The Micro490 also provides an indication of the SAE Cold Cranking Amps of the battery and a live alternator voltage to check the integrity of the charging system.
