Newcor, Inc. Books New Business in Excess of $5 Million

BAY CITY, Mich. -- Newcor, Inc. announced today that their Special Machines Group received sales orders that approximated $5 million from a tier one automotive supplier. The equipment consists primarily of robotic cells which will be tooled to perform welding and assembly functions and is scheduled to be completed prior to the end of 1999. These orders, in addition to other new business attained by the Special Machines Group, increases their current backlog to approximately $16 million. Mr. Keith Hale, President and Chief Executive Officer commented, "We are very pleased with the orders received by our Special Machines Group. These bookings strengthen our forecasted revenue position for the balance of the year and solidify our shipment projections for the Group.
