The MTD Automotive Learning Center Recognized
    CLEVELAND, June 23 -- MTD Automotive is being recognized as a
leader in employee education for small to medium sized plants in Ohio,
according to Bill Fox, general manager, Liverpool operations.
    Distinguished as a Polaris (a Cleveland area vocational institution)
promotional initiative, the learning center will be featured on local
Cleveland cable channel 61 on the Sunday morning news show "In Your Interest."
The show with this segment is currently in production and will be aired soon
after its completion.
    "We are proud to have MTD Automotive shown as a progressive organization
that invests in its workforce and develops a forward thinking company," said
Mr. Fox.  "The recognition the learning center is receiving is an added bonus
we are proud to receive."
    The learning center is located at the Liverpool, Ohio plant where
employees may come in on their own time to take advantage of the courses and
services that are available.  Along with computer and mathematics classes,
there are other educational and self-development courses that are all led
through a cooperative labor management committee.
    Through a joint effort of the Liverpool plant management and the local
union, the learning center also has facilitators available in the classroom.
    "We plan to continue expanding and improving this program for the benefit
of our employees and the company," added Mr. Fox.  "Additional computers,
learning materials and classrooms are just a few of the things we hope to add
in the future."
