Karl Johnson Elected CEO of Redem Corp.
    SAN MATEO, Calif., June 23 -- Redem Corporation, a
technology-based company that focuses on reducing exhaust emissions in the
automotive, diesel and industrial markets, has elected Karl C. Johnson, Jr. as
its Chief Executive Officer.
    Nelson M. Schneider, the principal founder of the Company, had been
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer since the Company's
inception in 1993.  Mr. Schneider remains as Chairman of the Board of
Directors.
    Mr. Johnson, a member of the Redem Board of Directors since 1998 and Vice
Chairman of the Board since February 1999, joins the Company after 10 years at
CIBC World Markets and its predecessor firms.  Most recently, he had been an
Executive Director of the Global Automotive Group for CIBC World Markets,
based in Chicago.  He was responsible for the firm's global marketing efforts
to automotive manufacturers and suppliers.
    Mr. Johnson has been a member of the PACE Awards Judges Panel, a major
automotive industry award focusing on automotive supplier innovation.  It
is sponsored by Automotive News magazine and the accounting firm of Ernst &
Young.  He holds a BA degree in Economics from Yale University and a Masters
in Management Degree with a concentration in Finance from the JL Kellogg
Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Schneider noted.  "Now with Karl and myself jointly heading our management

    Redem Corp. has developed and is now commercially marketing automotive and
industrial catalysts that stress new technology, exceptional performance and
low cost.  The Company's products feature the capability of meeting and
exceeding all domestic and international requirements for current and planned
emission control standards.
    The Company markets its products internationally under the "Redem" (short
for reduced emissions) and the "Tri-D" brand names.  Its corporate
headquarters is in San Mateo, California, with manufacturing facilities in
Port Clinton, Ohio and technology laboratories in Toronto, Ontario.  U.S.
operational and sales offices are in Chicago and Detroit and the Company also
has ownership in two foreign joint venture companies, located in Beijing,
China and New Delhi, India.
