Thyssen Inc., North America Announces Key Executive Appointments
    DETROIT, June 23 -- Thyssen Inc., North America is pleased to
announce the following new appointments:

    -- Mr. Frederick Siegel as Executive Vice President and Member of the
Executive Committee.  In his new capacity, Mr. Siegel will have overall
responsibility for the company's Distribution and Services units, including
Copper and Brass Sales, Inc., Ken-Mac Metals, Inc., AIN Plastics, Inc., and
also the Non-Automotive carbon steel Distribution and Services business.
Prior to this new appointment, he was Senior Vice President, Corporate
Development at Thyssen Inc., NA.  Mr. Siegel joined Thyssen Inc., NA in
October 1997 from ALCOA, where he served as Vice President Distribution, Sales
and Marketing.  Mr. Siegel will continue to report directly to Thyssen Inc.,
NA President and CEO, Mr. Kenneth J. Graham.
    -- Mr. Johann Finkelmeier as Executive Vice President and Member of the
Executive Committee, responsible for the ThyssenKrupp Steel Group Automotive
business unit in Detroit, MI.  Mr. Finkelmeier will assume these
responsibilities from retiring Thyssen Inc., NA Executive Vice President, Mr.
Virgil Lobring, on October 1, 1999.  Mr. Finkelmeier moves into his new
assignment from his previous position as Senior Vice President in charge of
the company's Non-Automotive Distribution and Services units.  Mr. Finkelmeier
will report to Mr. Kenneth J. Graham, President and CEO Thyssen Inc., NA.
    -- Mr. Nicholas Tolerico as Executive Vice President, responsible for
ThyssenKrupp Steel Group's Distribution and Services units (Non-Automotive),
with its major facilities in Richburg, SC, and Houston, TX.  Mr. Tolerico will
continue to be based in Detroit and will report to Mr. Frederick Siegel,
Executive Vice President Thyssen Inc., NA.  Mr. Tolerico joined Thyssen in
1993 from LTV Steel.  Prior to that he had served as a Senior Trade Official
at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C.  Mr. Tolerico's new
assignment is effective July 1, 1999.
    -- Ms. Annette Skiba as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer for
Thyssen Inc., NA assuming the responsibilities of retiring Senior Vice
President, Ms. Antoinette Segitz on June 30, 1999.  In her new capacity, Ms.
Skiba will be responsible for the company's consolidated financial statements,
including monthly and annual balance sheets, P&L, and other financial
reporting.  She will report to Mr. Walter J. Oehler, Executive Vice President
and CFO Thyssen Inc., NA.  Ms. Skiba moves into her new assignment from her
current position as Vice President of Accounting for the ThyssenKrupp Steel
Group business unit.
