SC Truckers Elect Officers & Directors
    COLUMBIA, S.C., June 22 -- David T. "Toby" Garrett, president
of Golden Strip Transfer, Simpsonville, SC was elected chairman of the board
of the South Carolina Trucking Association at the group's 67th annual meeting
at Amelia Island, FL.
   Elected vice chairmen are Elleveen Poston, Quality Transport, Lake City;
A. J. "Buster" Blalock, Tidewater Transportation, Charleston; and Rich
Bundschuh, Bunch Transport, Charleston; and W. Tobin Cassels, III,
Southeastern Freight Lines, Columbia, was re-elected state vice president,
American Trucking Associations.  Dexter Bunch, Bunch Leasing Co., Charleston
and J. Richards Todd of Columbia were re-elected as treasurer and president,
respectively.

Truck Driver of the Year.
    Phil Byrd, Bulldog Hiway Express, Charleston, was presented the South
Carolina Motor Carrier Executive of the Year award during the Saturday evening
banquet.
    The South Carolina Trucking Association is the statewide trade association
representing the interests of South Carolina's truck operators with over 830
members.
