Thyssen Steel Group Opens New Steel Distribution Center in Richburg, SCDETROIT, June 21 -- Thyssen Steel Group, a Division of Thyssen Inc., NA, is pleased to announce the opening of its new Steel Processing and Distribution Center in Richburg, South Carolina. Formal opening and dedication ceremonies are scheduled for June 24, 1999. Among the dignitaries participating in the inaugural ceremonies will be the Governor of South Carolina, the Honorable James H. Hodges, and Mr. Charles S. Way, Secretary of Commerce, South Carolina. The first phase construction project of the new state-of-the-art facility encompasses 200,000 sq. ft, of warehouse and office space and houses newly installed steel processing equipment, including slitting, precision blanking and multi-blanking lines. Commenting on the opening of the $30 million Richburg plant, Mr. Kenneth J. Graham, President/CEO Thyssen Inc., NA, stated that "Thyssen Steel Group will continue to intensify its presence in the Southeast United States, with a special focus toward servicing the materials requirements and related processing needs of the growing automotive, home and garden products, white goods, furniture and construction industries in the region." Continuing, he noted that the company had already poured foundations in anticipation of expanding the plant to 500,000 sq. ft. in the near future.
