Butler Wins N.C. Twin-Trailer Truck Championship

Overnite Now With A Dozen State Champions
    SMITHFIELD, N.C. -- Fayetteville Road Driver Bill Butler won the North 
Carolina state truck driving championship in the twin- trailer classification
 here Saturday.

    It is the second state truck driving championship of Butler's career,
having won the twin-trailer title last year.  He now will compete in the
National Truck Driving Championships in Tampa, Fla., in August.

    Also claiming an award for Overnite was Greensboro City Driver Brian
Walker, who took third place in the five-axle competition.

    Overnite drivers this Spring have won 12 state championships, two Pre-Trip
Inspection Awards, three Rookie of the Year Awards, 12 second place awards and
11 third place awards.

    Overnite Transportation, a subsidiary of Union Pacific Corporation,
reported revenue in excess of $1 billion in 1998.  The less-than-truckload
carrier has 12,500 employees at more than 160 service centers serving 45,000
points in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico
and Guam.
