Visteon Launches 'See the possibilities(TM)' Fund to Inspire Hope for ChildrenDEARBORN, Mich., June 21 -- Visteon today strengthened a corporate commitment to creating possibilities for the future by launching a philanthropic program focused on children. In stepping beyond the automotive industry, the Visteon "See the possibilities(TM)" Fund will provide children with opportunities and resources by supporting innovative and enterprising initiatives in regions of the world where the organization does business. "We believe that, if given opportunity and nurturing, every child has the potential to shape the future of our global community," said Visteon President Craig Muhlhauser. "Visteon strives daily to deliver its brand promise of creating possibilities in the automotive industry, and the 'See the possibilities' Fund empowers our employees to expand this promise into communities in which we operate." Visteon's new philanthropic program will enrich the lives of children by supporting local, community-based organizations that recognize the needs of children and offer sound programs to address those needs. During the first year, Visteon plants will participate in pilot programs and will allocate funds to support organizations that have been chosen by teams of employees in North America, South America, and Europe. In addition, Visteon will provide information and resources for all employees to encourage volunteer involvement with children's organizations in their communities. "Our Visteon team spent a great deal of time designing a philanthropy program that is strategic in approach, yet hands-on and grass-roots in its implementation," Muhlhauser said. "This ensures that the 'See the possibilities' Fund will make the greatest use of our employees' unique resources and talent. Visteon is fully committed to making meaningful contributions to our communities and takes great pride in doing so." Muhlhauser and the other members of the Visteon leadership team will be donating their personal time and talent to children's programs throughout the world. Visteon also will participate in global initiatives that support children. As a first step, Visteon recently became a corporate sponsor of the Global Partnership for Youth Development, an effort convened by the International Youth Foundation (IYF), the World Bank, and the Kellogg Company. "We are pleased to be working in partnership with Visteon in strengthening and expanding effective programs benefiting young people," said IYF President and Chief Executive Officer Rick Little. "What makes this emerging partnership with Visteon and other global companies unique is the focus on collaboration among the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and leveraging investment in existing 'best practice' programs." Through the IYF sponsorship, Visteon will support research of effective children's programs and, based on this knowledge, work with IYF to develop special children's projects in select regions of the world. In its short history, Visteon has established a strong record in supporting children's programs, both in the Detroit area, and in plant communities worldwide. In April, Visteon was a national sponsor of Hope for Kids Day, a nationwide event to educate families about the importance of children's health issues and programs. In metropolitan Detroit, Visteon supports the FIRST Robotics Program, Children's Hospital of Michigan, the Detroit Area Pre- College Engineering Program, and many other programs aimed at youth. With a global delivery system of more than 125 technical, manufacturing, sales and service facilities located in 21 countries, Visteon Automotive Systems is leveraging the talents of 77,000 employees to deliver innovative, consumer-driven automotive systems solutions to its customers.
