IQXPERT Announces Mentor Graphics Integration for ItemQuest Component and Supplier Management Solution

    DENVER--June 21, 1999--

Faster Product-to-Market and Increased Component Re-Use, All
Within the Mentor Graphics Environment

IQXPERT, an IHS Group company, announced today the integration of its ItemQuest(R) Component and Supplier Management (CSM) solution with Mentor Graphics' design tool set. The ItemQuest integration with Mentor Graphics' Design Architect (DA) and Library Management System (LMS) provides an optimal environment that enables a design engineer to stay within their design tool desktop while benefiting from the valuable decision support capabilities of ItemQuest.
"Driving costs out of product development and accelerating time-to-market are key benefits of the ItemQuest solution," said Patrick Romich, IQXPERT's Chief Executive Officer. "Our integration with Mentor Graphics allows engineers to quickly make ideal part selections based on complete engineering technical data, as well as the most sound business criteria. This supports Engineering's best practices as well as Procurement's highly profitable strategic sourcing initiatives."
Because ItemQuest gives users an enterprise view of all preferred parts, engineers can now re-use proven components, removing even more costs from the product development process. Mentor's engineering design environment is made even more powerful through the integration of ItemQuest's CAPSXpert. Design engineers can now have instant access to the world's largest external data content source. CAPSXpert, which is seamlessly integrated with ItemQuest, provides parametric information and data sheet content for more than 14 million components and two million component drawings from over 1500 manufacturers.
Engineers can use ItemQuest to search for parts from within Mentor Graphic's Design Architect or Library Management System. Symbols can be instantiated from an ItemQuest query result directly into the DA design tool, greatly enhancing the workflow of the design engineering environment, and significantly accelerating product development. The integrated environment also accelerates new part setup by providing access to manufacturer's parametric information and documents.
Users can initiate an automatic ItemQuest search for selected DA symbols, providing them instant access to enterprise component and supplier information such as preferred status, availability, reliability, cost, datasheets, and replacements. Mentor librarians and component engineers may also create or update LMS catalog files based on selected ItemQuest search results. Additionally, part information can be synchronized between ItemQuest and the Mentor Graphics design tool catalog on demand, assuring users that the selected components are of the most current version.
