IMCA: LEBANON VALLEY RESULTS

20 June 1999

RICH RICCI JR. ENDS TREMONT'S STREAK, TAKES $1,OOO BOUNTY

WEST LEBANON, NY- Rich Ricci Jr. ended Tremont's Saturday night streak by
winning the 30-lap modified feature Saturday night. Art Collins was
victorious in the 20-lap Sportsman main while Henry Tanner took top honors in
the 20-lap street stock feature. Paul LaRochelle took the checkered flag
first in the IMCA modifieds. Fane Concrete was the night's main sponsor.

Ron Blake and Chris Moore led the modified field down to the start of
the 30-lap feature. There was trouble on the first turn of lap one as Jody
Tornabene spun, but was able to continue unharmed. Chris Moore took command
of the race on the restart, but the caution flag came out less than two laps
later as Mike Ricci spun in turn four and collected John Hewitt, both were
done for the night. Disaster nearly struck on the restart as Brian Burger
bounced off the frontstretch wall, bringing out the third caution of the
race. At this point in the race Tremont was steadily working he way through
the field, making it up to fifth by lap seven.

Donnie Corellis was looking for his first win of the year. Corellis
took second on lap four and set his sights on Moore. Corellis made the pass
for the lead on lap eight with Ricci and Tremont also getting by Moore. Ricci
began to pressure Corellis for the lead by lap 13. The top five at halfway
looked like this, Corellis, Ricci, Tremont Moore and Ron Blake. The top three
cars began to pull away from the rest of the field by lap 16. Tim Dwyer
cracked the top five on lap 17, as Ricci wrestled the lead away from Corellis
on lap 21. Tremont made the pass for second on lap 24 and set his sights on
Ricci, but could never get close enough.

Ricci was able to bring home a birthday present for his wife, Kelly, by
taking the $3,000 payday. Tremont held on for second and Corellis third.
Dwyer was able to take fourth on lap 26 and Moore finished fifth.
Stan Jablonka led the first eighteen laps of the 20-lap sportsman feature;
the last five laps of the feature saw a good battle between Jablonka and Art
Collins for the top spot. Lee Gagliardi did a superb piece of driving on lap
six, as he spun on the frontstretch with a majority of the field bearing down
on him. Gagliardi did a complete 360 and continued on without anyone making
contact. The top five at halfway were Jablonka, Collins, Wes Powell and Jason
Tompkins. Collins began to pressure Jablonka by lap 15. K.C. Goewey took over fifth on
lap 15. The second and final caution came out on lap 15 when Hawley Smith
spun in turn two. Goewey took fourth on the restart. Collins made the pass
for the lead stick on lap 18 and took home his first win of the season.
Jablonka took home second, Kokosa third, Goewey fourth and George Marcus
finished fifth.

Bobby Blackburn and Ray Hall led the field down for the start of the
20-lap Street Stock feature. Hall was able to get out in front and was the
leader of lap one. The first caution of the race flew on lap two as Tom
Bortle spun in turn four. The restart allowed Henry Tanner to take the lead
away from Hall. Great racing action in the top five as second through fifth
ran door to door for several laps. Bobby Duzlak made the pass for second on
lap nine.

The leader appeared to be in trouble on lap eleven as smoked began to
show. The smoke looked to be part of the body rubbing on the right front
tire. Jim Lagenback took over third on lap 13 and set his sights on Duzlak.
The two did put on a good race for second, but could never catch the
front-running Tanner. The final yellow of the race came out on lap 16 as
Butch Irwin put fluid down on the speedway. Robbie Speed made a pass for
fourth on the last lap. Henry Tanner took home his second win of the 1999
season. Duzlak hung on for second with Lagenback third, Speed fourth and
Scott Goversten rounding out the top five.

Paul LaRochelle made a daring pass from third to first at the start
of the 15-lap IMCA modified feature. LaRochelle made the most of that pass as
he led every lap of the feature for his first win of the 1999 season. George
Catanzano followed LaRochelle closely for several laps, but he dropped from
the event on lap eight. Only two caution flags slowed the race, with the
first coming out on lap seven when Rich Colesanti got a flat tire. The second
incident of the race was more severe. Steve Hough and Bill Flanders were
running second and third respectively when the both crashed hard into the
turn one wall. Both drivers were able to walk away from the wreck under their
own power. LaRochelle was untouchable at the front off the pack and easily
cruised home for the victory. Craig Simmons, Chris Crews, Jeff Carr and Jim
Rajczi followed him across the line.
