Borg-Warner Automotive Turbo Systems Marks Production of Four Millionth Polymer Fan for Heavy Duty Truck Applications
GAINESVILLE, Ga.--June 18, 1999--The Cooling Systems division of Borg-Warner Automotive Turbo Systems today commemorated the production of the four millionth Kysor polymer fan for heavy duty truck applications. The fan was presented to Sterling Truck Corporation and will be installed on one of the fleet trucks for Werner Enterprises."We are excited to mark this milestone with Sterling Truck Corporation and one of the country's leading fleets," said Bruce Dufour, vice president and general manager of the Cooling Systems division of Borg-Warner Automotive Turbo Systems. "We offer polymer and metal fans to meet the needs of every application from heavy duty and off-highway to light duty truck, and we will continue to provide innovative cooling systems solutions to our customers worldwide."
The Gainesville facility produces polymer and metal fans for heavy duty trucks, medium trucks, light trucks, off-highway, agriculture, construction and military applications. The Kysor polymer fans were first produced in 1980, and demand for the product has steadily increased over the past two decades. Production of the Schwitzer metal fan began in 1918, and more than 15 million metal fans have been manufactured at the Gainesville plant since 1992. The Cooling Systems Division's global fan production will exceed 2.5 million in 1999.
The Cooling Systems division combined production of both types of fans at the Gainesville plant in 1998. The facility is QS 9000 and ISO 9001 certified, and approximately 200 employees work at this location.
Borg-Warner Automotive Turbo Systems includes two former Schwitzer Group divisions, Schwitzer Engine Components and Kysor Cooling Systems. The Turbo Systems global business unit also includes the 3K-Warner turbocharger business in Europe.
