NCTI Licenses Major Worldwide Car Maker With ClearSpeech for Full-duplex Hands-free Cellular Telephony
STAMFORD, Conn.--June 18, 1999--NCT Group, Inc. (OTCBB: NCTI) today announced that its ClearSpeech(R) technology will be used by a major worldwide automotive manufacturer to remove background noise and echo from full-duplex, hands-free cellular telephone conversations. NCTI will receive per unit royalties. A second worldwide manufacturer is currently testing the technology for the same application.
"We believe that ClearSpeech technology offers the best solution available to the noise and echo problems of hands-free full-duplex communications, and we are confident that it will one day be standard in all automobiles," said Michael Parrella, President, NCTI. "The manufacturer that has contracted with us conducted comprehensive testing of technology from many vendors and ClearSpeech came out on top. This implementation is extremely robust and withstands the noise challenges of both American and European driving."
Mr. Parrella continued, "The technology has even been subjected to the harshest noise environment, a convertible sports car, and the results have been outstanding. The challenge of delivering acceptable performance in a convertible car has never before been achieved. We would be happy to provide a demonstration to any car maker interested in delivering the highest-performing hands-free communications to its customers."
The ClearSpeech noise reduction algorithm is designed to remove stationary noise from an input speech signal to improve voice quality. The algorithm is adaptive -- as background noise changes in either frequency or amplitude, ClearSpeech continues to cancel the noise for consistent performance. The ClearSpeech Acoustic Echo Cancellation algorithm employs a Frequency Block LMS adaptive digital filter to cancel acoustic echo, a problem common to cellular phone hands-free communications.
NCT Group, Inc. is a leading technology developer with an extensive portfolio of proprietary algorithms and a wide variety of product offerings for consumer, commercial and industrial applications.
