Kenny Tremont LEBANON VALLEY Speedway Preview
17 June 1999
BOUNTY PLACED ON TREMONT AT LEBANON VALLEY WEST LEBANON, NY- Webster's Dictionary defines a bounty as "a reward or premium as payment for the capture of an outlaw." While Kenny Tremont is certainly not an outlaw, his performance at Lebanon Valley, this season, is borderline criminal. Tremont is celebrating his 20th year of racing at Lebanon Valley in 1999. He is on track for a career season, going into this weekend of racing Tremont has won eight of the nine races run at the Valley in 1999 and he is the only driver to win on a Saturday night. His only miscue came on a Monday night show as he was going for the lead he cut down a right rear tire, which cost him the victory. Tremont's dominance of victory lane has gotten Howie Commander to issue a bounty on the #115 of Kenny Tremont. If anyone can beat the "Sand Lake Slingshot", Commander will give them a bounty of $1,000! If Tremont continues his streak, the bounty will increase by $500 a Saturday night. There are plenty of Valley regulars that would love to win and pick up the extra cash, but can anyone stop the TREMONT EXPRESS. Tremont's banner year has him closing in on some track records. Tremont currently sits second on the all time win list at Lebanon Valley with 74 victories. Tommy Corellis holds the record with 83 victories. Howie Westervelt had 17 wins at Lebanon Valley in 1959, knocking ten in a row off at one point in the season. If Tremont continues on his current pace he will break both of these records in 1999. When will the streak end? The only way to find out is to be there Saturday night and either cheer for Tremont to win or cheer for your favorite driver to beat him. Looking ahead at some of the big events on the Valley schedule include two fantastic fireworks displays on June 26th and July 3rd. Also the U.S. Hot Rod Monster Truck Summer Nationals roar into action on July 19-21. Mr. Dirt Track, USA on August 5th will pay $17,500 to the winner of the modified feature.
