14 June 1999

Guide Corp. emerging as a dominant force in the auto lighting industry
ANDERSON, Ind. -- Carey Winkel, vice president of sales, marketing and planning
at Guide Corporation, said today the company has been awarded four additional
major vehicle-lighting system contracts for model year 2003 automobiles and trucks.

The contract awards raise Guide's new business total to more than
$90 million since November. "This amount of new business shows that Guide Corporation
is emerging as an independent, dominant force in the automotive lighting industry,
" added Winkel. "Contracts like these are evidence of the company's experience level
in lighting systems."

Guide received quality achievement awards this spring from Subaru-Isuzu
Automotive, Inc. (SIA), and New United Motor Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI), a
joint venture operation between Toyota and General Motors.

An independent Tier One lighting systems supplier to the global automobile
and truck manufacturing industries, Guide Corporation is one of the world's
largest producers of vehicle-lighting products. It has more than 3,600
employees worldwide.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., Guide Corporation operates the Signal
Lighting Division in Anderson, and the Forward Lighting Division in Monroe,
La. The company has an additional manufacturing facility in Matamoros, Mexico
and a joint-venture operation, Sung San, in Taegu, South Korea.
