KOKOSA 2ND IN MODS, DAVE SANCHEZ WINS SPORTSMAN AT VALLEY

WEST LEBANON, NY- Kenny Tremont is on top of the world at Lebanon Valley, he
took home his eighth win of the season Saturday night. David Sanchez was the
winner in the 20-lap sportsman race and Danny Sanchez took top honors in the
Street Stocks. Chris Crews was the winner of the 15-lap IMCA modified main.

Chris Moore took the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap
modified feature. Rob Pitcher's night ended early as he went pitside on lap
six. Kenny Tremont was taken his time moving up through the field, he was
only ninth on lap seven. Moore looked very strong at the front of the pack
opening a full straightaway lead by lap eleven. Mike Ricci had a good run
Saturday night; he was racing for third by lap 14.

Moore's bad luck reared it ugly head again on lap 17 as he dropped
from the race. Chris Kokosa would inherit the lead as a result. Tremont would
finally crack the top five by lap 19. Rich Ricci Jr saw a top ten run end
with a flat tire on lap 20; this brought out the first caution flag of the
feature. Mike Ricci got a good jump on the restart and took over second in
the running order as Tremont moved up to third on lap 23. The most serious
incident of the race happened on lap 24, as Donnie Corellis and Dickie Larkin
both crashed in turn four. Corellis was able to return to the race, but would
drop out a couple of laps later.

Tim Dwyer made his patented late race charge on the restart. He moved
from seventh to fifth in one turn. Tremont took second from Ricci on lap 27
allowing Tremont to set his sights on Kokosa. Several cars came together on
the frontstretch on lap 28; as a result John Hewitt wound up facing the wrong
way on the track.

This set up a shootout between Kokosa and Tremont for the win. Tremont dove
under Kokosa on the restart and the two went side by side down the
backstretch into turn three. Tremont was able to pull out an advantage
coming off turn four and cruised home for his eighth win of the season.
Kokosa had a phenomenal run in second with Mike Ricci third, Dwyer fourth and
Eddie Marshall rounded out the top five.

Several wrecks were narrowly avoided at the start of the 20-lap sportsman
feature. Art Collins went pitside on lap one; he was able to return and would
wind up in the top ten. When the dust finally settled Lorne Browe was in
command of the event. David Sanchez passed Browe for the top spot on lap
five, right before the caution flag came out. Five cars came together in turn
four bringing out the second caution of the race. Frank Harper and Ed Riiska
both brushed the wall on the restart effectively ended their top five runs.
George Marcus jumped up to second on the restart. K.C. Goewey dropped from
the race on lap seven with mechanical difficulties. Kokosa was looking for
his second top five run of the night; he was up to third by lap eight.
Marcus began to challenge Sanchez for the lead on lap eleven and the battle
went on for several laps. Bobby Knipe had something break going into turn
three, but he was able to stop just before hitting the wall. Stan Jablonka
would retire from the event on lap 15. Collins came back from his early race
problems to sixth by lap 16. The best race on the track in the final laps was
between Collins and Lowe as the swapped sixth back and forth. Roy Bridge
dropped from the race on lap 18 as smoke billowed from his car. Sanchez was
untouchable as he took home his first win of the year. Marcus was second,
Kokosa third, Browe fourth and Hawley Smith fifth.

Danny Sanchez ended some early season bad luck by winning the 20-lap
street stock feature. Sanchez won in fine style by leading every lap of the
feature. Point leader, Jim Lagenback struggled early in the race. He suffered
a right rear flat tire on lap four, bringing out the first caution flag of
the race. Ray Hall, Butch Irwin and Henry Tanner were also plagued with flat
tires in the first half of the feature. Robbie Speed took over the third
position on a lap five restart.

Lagenback was recovering well from his early race woes; he was up to
fifth by lap 11. Speed saw his good run disappear when he tagged the wall on
lap 12. Chris Morris and Tom Bortle ran door to door for second on lap 13.
Scott Goversten and Lagenback dueled for fifth on lap 13 as well. Bob Duzlak
dropped from the event on lap 15. Sanchez was never really seriously
challenged as he took home his first win of the 1999 season. Bortle, Morris,
and Lagenback followed him across the line. Bob Miller rounded out the top
five.

Chris Crews took the lead on a lap one restart and never looked back. He had
to hold off several challenges from George Catanzano to take home the
checkered flag. Last weeks winner Jim Rajczi was able to get up to third, but
never made a serious bid for the lead. Crews and Catanzano were able to open
some distance on third by lap seven. Catanzano most serious bid for the lead
came in lapped traffic on lap 13. The two leaders went inside and outside of
a slower car as they came down the frontstretch. Crews was able to hold on
for his first victory on 1999.
