Ryder TRS Announces 'Home Free' Sweepstakes Promotion

  Grand Prize Winners to Receive Free Mortgage or Rent Payments for One Full
                                     Year

    DENVER, June 9 -- An estimated 21 million households will
move this year, according to Imagitas, and a full third of those moves will
take place during the summer months.  To kick off the busy moving season,
Ryder TRS, the nation's second largest consumer truck rental company, today
launched a consumer sweepstakes promotion -- Home Free with Ryder TRS -- to
reward customers with special prizes and discounts when they visit Ryder TRS
dealerships.
    Prizes include three grand prize awards of free mortgage or rent payments
for one full year, up to $12,000, and $250 Sears gift certificates.  Discounts
range from $25 on local rentals and $100 on one-way rentals to instant-win
discounts of $5 on hand truck or furniture pad rentals.  In addition,
consumers who receive cards without a winning prize can mail in their cards
for a special drawing for free mortgage or rent payments for a year, to be
held once the promotion has ended.  The Home Free promotion, which runs
through September 30, 1999, will be supported with radio and Internet
advertising, and through apartment guides.
    Home Free scratch-off sweepstakes cards can be obtained from any of the
nearly 3,400 participating Ryder TRS dealerships, more than 8,000
participating apartment communities and through the June and July issues of
Apartments for Rent magazine.  Consumers simply bring their cards to any Ryder
TRS dealership to scratch off possible winning prizes or discounts.
    Approximately 75 percent of moving households move themselves, and 40
percent of those households rent trucks for their moves, according to
Imagitas.  "This summer, as leases run out, kids move home from college and
executives get transferred on business, demand for summer truck rentals will
steadily increase," stated Dan Magill, director, Marketing for Budget Truck
Group.  "To beat the rush, we encourage movers to book early and to target
weekdays during mid-month weeks for their moves."
