Best-Ever May Sales Reported by Toyota's Kansas City RegionKANSAS CITY, Mo., June 8 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region posted its best-ever sales month in May with car sales of 2,852 vehicles, a 7 percent increase over May 1998 when vehicle sales totaled 2,673. Combined car and truck sales totaled 3,191, a 6 percent increase over last year's 3,014 vehicles total. "A strong economy and consumer confidence, combined with stable interest rates, have enabled our dealers to mirror the entire Toyota Division by recording their best-ever May sales," said Bruce Ertmann, general manager of the Kansas City Region. The Georgetown, Kentucky-built Sienna, as well as the Toyota 4Runner and RAV4 all contributed to a record sales month for 1999. Sienna sales jumped 28 percent, while Toyota RAV4 and 4Runner had sales increases of 48 percent and 29 percent, respectively. Through May, Camry -- the nation's number one selling passenger car nameplate -- is up 26.5 percent over the same period last year. The Toyota Kansas City Region includes 74 dealers in Iowa, Kansas, South and North Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska.
