Best-Ever May Sales Reported by Toyota's Kansas City Region
KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 8 -- Toyota's Kansas City Region
posted its best-ever sales month in May with car sales of 2,852 vehicles, a 7
percent increase over May 1998 when vehicle sales totaled 2,673. Combined car
and truck sales totaled 3,191, a 6 percent increase over last year's 3,014
vehicles total.
"A strong economy and consumer confidence, combined with stable interest
rates, have enabled our dealers to mirror the entire Toyota Division by
recording their best-ever May sales," said Bruce Ertmann, general manager of
the Kansas City Region.
The Georgetown, Kentucky-built Sienna, as well as the Toyota 4Runner and
RAV4 all contributed to a record sales month for 1999. Sienna sales jumped 28
percent, while Toyota RAV4 and 4Runner had sales increases of 48 percent and
29 percent, respectively. Through May, Camry -- the nation's number one
selling passenger car nameplate -- is up 26.5 percent over the same period
last year.

and North Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska.
