Subaru/Specialized Cycling Summit Coming to Philadelphia

8 June 1999

PHILADELPHIA--The Subaru/Specialized Women's Cycling Summit will be held this weekend in Philadelphia, which was recently named to Bicycling Magazine's list of top ten bicycle friendly cities. Building on the success of last year, the Summit has been expanded nationally, with locations in Chicago, Philadelphia, and Palo Alto. The Philadelphia Summit will take place June 12th - 13th at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel & Convention Center. Registration will be accepted at the door the day of the event.
Subaru is sponsoring the event to encourage increased participation in cycling. Women of all ages and cycling levels will gather to learn, meet new friends, and of course, ride. Organized to accommodate a variety of fitness levels and experience, the seminarsoffer information designed to appeal to beginners and pros alike. Nutrition, bicycle maintenance, safety and equipment, and massaging and stretching are all topics which will be covered during the Summit.
Sally Edwards, an Ironman Triathlon Finisher, former masters world record holder, and CEO of the Heart Zone Training Company will once again be the keynote speaker. Edwards is also the author of twelve best-selling books on sports, fitness, and diet. Her latest book, about gaining muscle while losing weight, will be the topic of one of the featured seminars.
For every woman who participates in the Summit, Subaru will make a donation to the Women's Sports Foundation. The WSF is a national nonprofit, member-based organization dedicated to increasing opportunities for girls and women in sports and fitness through education, advocacy, recognition, and grants.
