Federal-Mogul Appoints James L. Fetter, Director of Finance, Powertrain Systems
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 7 -- Alan C. Johnson, executive vice
president, Powertrain Systems, Federal-Mogul Corporation ,
announces the appointment of James L. Fetter to the position of director of
finance, Powertrain Systems, effective immediately.  Reporting to Johnson,
Fetter will have responsibility for financial reporting and analysis for the
global powertrain business.
    "Jim will be a tremendous asset to the powertrain organization bringing
valuable experience in the aftermarket and original equipment business," said
Johnson.  "His proven leadership in these customer channels will be beneficial
as we continue to grow our powertrain business, particularly in valvetrain
systems."
    Prior to this appointment, since March 1998 Fetter held the position of
director of finance, Worldwide Aftermarket.  He previously held the position
of financial controller - North American Aftermarket.  Prior to joining
Federal-Mogul, he served as chief financial officer for AlliedSignal's
Automotive Aftermarket division in Providence, Rhode Island.
    Fetter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from
Miami University, Ohio, and is nearing completion of a Master of Business
Administration degree in management.
